Green Building Rating Systems (GBRSs)

چکیده
Green Building Rating Systems (GBRSs) are typically third-party, voluntary, and market driven standards that measure buildings’ sustainability level by multi-criteria assessment, encourage the adoption of environmentally, socially economically sustainable practices in design, construction operation buildings (or neighborhoods). GBRSs aim at guiding assessing project throughout all its life cycle, thus limiting negative impact on environment, as well building occupants’ health well-being, even reducing operational costs. Hundreds now available worldwide, varying approaches, application processes, evaluation metrics. BREEAM, CASBEE, Star LEED among most applied worldwide. Despite some differences, they adhere to same general structure: performances ares measured using a set relevant indicators, grouped per topics such water management, energy use, materials, site qualities. Each assessed requirement is assigned score/judgment, total which determines achieved. In addition regular updates, current trend improve effectiveness protocols, making them more comprehensive accurate, while keeping easy use.

A frequent point of debate is the relationship between Green Building and Sustainable Development (SD). We take the view that SD is most applicable at the urban or societal level, since it includes issues of social equity and broad issues of economics, in addition to concerns about ecosystems and human health. We find it difficult to apply these broader societal issues to buildings in a practic...

In the offline world, we look to the people we trust and those they trust for reliable information. In this paper, we present a computational model of this phenomenon and show how it can be used to identify high quality content in an Open Rating System, i.e., a system in which any user can rate content. We present a case study (Epinions.com) of a system based on this model and describe a new pl...

The renewable energy sources and plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) are becoming very popular because of the combination of high fuel costs and concerns about emission issues. This paper presents modelling and control of a Building Integrated Fuel Cell and Plug-in Electric Vehicles (BIFC-PEV) in smart distribution systems. In BIFC-PEV system, conventional building elements could be replaced by sp...
